¡Bienvenidos! My name is Ms. Ribau and I will be your child's Spanish teacher this year. We are beginning an exciting journey together as your child learns more about other languages and cultures around the world. The Spanish program for grades Pre-K-12 is centered around a communicative approach that incorporates the four main language skills of speaking, listening, reading, and writing that are used in everyday life. Your child will receive Spanish instruction once a week (for Pre-K-8) or two to three times a week (for H.S. students) in 40 minutes sessions. In order to supplement the work we do in class, students will be required to complete homework assignments and periodic projects.
Learning a second language is an exciting opportunity that is very useful in today's diverse world. My goals this year for your child include helping him or her to develop vocabulary and knowledge of key phrases in the Spanish language and to help him or her to appreciate cultural differences between our culture and those of Spanish-speaking countries around the world. We will be learning in many different ways including singing, dancing, role-playing, and crafts.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions or concerns. Please make sure to check the monthly calendar for homework assignments, test and quiz announcements, or projects that may be due.
Best Regards, (Atentamente)
