School Background

Mount Carmel Guild Academy is a private, non-profit, non-sectarian, co-educational school offering a comprehensive academic and clinical program for students classified within special education.  Opening in 1967, as Saint Patrick’s, The Academy officially adopted its new name as of April 2005.  At the start of the 2007 – 2008 school year, the Academy consolidated with Mount Carmel Guild Middle School, to form one, K – 8 program.  With the start of the 2009 – 2010 school year, the Academy expanded its age / grade range to include grades 9 through 12.  As of the start of the 2013 – 2014 school year, the Academy once again expanded it age / grade range to include Pre-K ages (3 – 4). Mount Carmel Guild Academy is a New Jersey Department of Education approved school for children with disabilities.  Students that attend the Academy come from sending districts within Essex, Hudson, Union, Passaic, Morris and surrounding counties.
